Klasien van de Zandschulp is an Amsterdam-based interactive artist and creative director at studio affect lab.
Klasien van de Zandschulp designs story-based and participatory experiences, blending digital/physical and online/offline interactions. Her work explores sensory design, embodiment, rituals, augmented realities, human interaction and (radical) thoughts around our daily technology consumption.
In collaboration with Emilie Baltz she created the futuristic cooking show called 'EAT TECH KITCHEN', with VR artist Ali Eslami she designed the interactive installation 'Sacred Hill' and recently she launched the award winning neighbourhood performance ‘Good Neighbours’, a collaboration with researcher dr. Natalie Dixon. During the recent lockdown she created 'DISTANCE DISCO', a virtual dancefloor for techno romances!
Van de Zandschulp recently won the Dutch Design Award 2021 (category Design Research) and the IDFA Doclab Immersive Non-Fiction award 2018. She was nominated for the Golden Kalf Digital Culture 2021.
Van de Zandschulp was fellow at the Institute of Network Cultures (NL, 2020 - 2021), the Sundance New Frontier Story Lab (USA, 2019) and guest researcher at the Artez Future Makers Institute - (NL, 2018, 2019).
Van de Zandschulp is advisor at Mondriaan Fund, Creative Industries Fund NL (2019 - 2022) and graduation tutor at the Royal Academy of the Arts (KABK) in The Hague. She was a jury member of the IDFA Doclab Immersive Non-Fiction award 2017, the Netherlands Film festival Gouden Kalf Interactive award in 2018, the SpinAwards AR/VR in 2019 and coach member at VAF Interactive - Flemish Audiovisual Fund (2019 - 2022).
